Meet the RAD Team

Layal is an award-winning Creative Director, educator, and illustrator with over 15 years of experience bridging the gap between artistic imagination and professional execution. Having directed over 100 projects and illustrated 45 books—including the 2025 Gourmand World Award-winning Aklana series—she has collaborated with global brands like Penguin Random House UK, Valentino MENA, and the Saudi Ministry of Culture. Now based in Brooklyn and furthering her expertise at NYU and The Art Students League, Layal brings her international perspective and faculty experience from CSUF to RAD Learning. When she isn't mentoring the next generation of creatives, she can be found sketching in museum galleries or on the subway, drawing constant inspiration from the energy of the city.
Mel is an illustrator and admin, helping with all of the behind-the-scenes aspects of RAD Learning. Mel graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Illustration and is currently working as a graphic designer for a lovely stationery store in Brooklyn. In her own illustration practice, she focuses on whimsical storytelling, often with fantastical themes and characters. Mel is so excited to be working with Radish House and can’t wait to join the vibrant creative community within RAD Learning.

RAD Certificate
Our certificates are given when a participant completes their required work and show clear and steady progress. Receiving the RAD Learning certificate is a proof of your achievements in fulfilling tasks and being evaluated by your instructors on the quality of work. Hence not all participants receive a certificate as a certain level of professionalism and progress is required.
