Q&As
What is the main focus of this mentorship program?
This is a "pre-production powerhouse." The focus is entirely on the foundational stages of a children's book: shaping concepts, storyboarding, character development, constructing a dummy book, understanding physical print options, and preparing to pitch.
Will Layal write, draw, or directly edit my book?
No. Layal acts as your strategic guide, providing professional feedback, direction, and industry advice. To ensure the story remains entirely your unique creation, she will not write, illustrate, or directly produce any artwork for your book.
How long are the sessions and how often do we meet?
Live sessions are 50 minutes long and conducted online via Google Meet. Because building consistent momentum is key, a commitment of at least 8 to 10 sessions is highly recommended.
How do we communicate and share work between sessions?
Email is our dedicated hub for questions, updates, handouts, resources, and draft submissions. Layal replies to emails Sunday through Thursday (EST) within 48 hours. Fridays and Saturdays are her weekend, meaning she is offline and unavailable for communication or sessions on those days.
How should I prepare for our live sessions?
To get the absolute most out of our 50 minutes, bring specific questions and progress updates related to your goals. If you want Layal to review any artwork or drafts during a session, you must email them at least 24 hours in advance. All sessions must be scheduled at least one week ahead.
What is the investment cost and payment structure?
While single standard consultations are $150, the mentorship packages are priced at discounted rates to support your journey:
3 to 6 sessions: $120 per session.
8 or more sessions: $100 per session.
Does participating in this program guarantee publication?
No. While this mentorship gives you the professional tools, pre-production assets, and industry insights to strongly present your work, it does not guarantee publication.
